![]() ![]() The light was red and there was a car stopped at the light. When I looked back through the windshield, North on Blanco in front of the Bowlerama, turned my head to look at some girls coming out. Supposed to be in church but my brother and I were riding around In 1964 I had wrecked the family's 1957 Chevrolet. The Tindall Dealership was located on San Pedro at the SW corner of Santa Monica I am almost completely certain of the location.snip Just south of the intersection of Hildebrand and San Pedro, I believe the Tindall Pontiac Dealership was located When suddenly he saw a new full sized '66 Pontiac inside the Tindall showroom from the street. I can recall a Rambler Dealer on Broadway just outside Brackenridge Park too. ![]() ![]() I remember seat belts were not the law back then and you could slide across those enormous bench seats during turns if you did not hang on to something. It was a beautiful and enormous car which was a lot of work to polish with that much sheet metal to cover. Consequently I can't be completely certain however I am almost completely certain of the location. I believe the Tindall Pontiac Dealership was located just south of the intersection of Hildebrand and San Pedro, on San Pedro, maybe 200 feet south but everything has changed so much since then and, I was just a kid. I could scarcely believe what happened next because in just a few minutes, right after the salesman test drove our 1960 Ford and to saw to his satisfaction it was a still a good car, it happened. I remember Dad was driving us southbound down San Pedro approaching Hildebrand towards downtown, I worked with Jennings Anderson when he was a fleet manager at Tom Benson Chevrolet in the early eighties just before he opened his ford store in Boerne!!! For the longest time, Pop Gunn owned the land that most dealerships sat on, and made more money in real estat than he ever did from the car business!!! Smith, now Freedom Chevrolet, was the oldest family owned Chevrolet dealership in San Antono - it was also the first, founded in 1916, the same year as Chevrolet! The current oldest family owned Chevrolet dealer would be Tom Benson Chevrolet - over fifty years since Benson purchased the dealership from Mike Persia - Benson's daughter Renee is the current owner/operator of the dealership. Winton knew Mr Persia, quite when Persia aquirred the dealership, and promptly went to work for Newt Godfrey. Ormsby Chevrolet where my father worked for the GM (Ralph Winton) later became Mike Persia Chevrolet whose GM was Tom Benson. That has proved to be an incorrect assumption and I am disappointed and seriously inconvenienced, and I will take both my business and my vehicle ownership elsewhere in the future.Dumas Milner became Newt Godrfrey, later it became Ancira-Winton Chevrolet. I trusted that their dealerships would know how to handle this new technology and the service/repairs that are required. I purchased a Volt with the understanding that GM was on the forefront of new and efficient technology for vehicles. I caution anyone seeking service for their electric or hybrid electric vehicle against using this dealership for their Chevy. I took my car to this dealership hoping for better service than at the last Chevy dealership, Northside Chevrolet, and Freedom was was doing well until this situation. ![]() This is incorrect as I discovered later that my car is not being repaired, nor are parts being ordered (which is what I was told by Vanderpot), but instead my car is sitting in their holding lot. Instead I was brushed off by the young woman who took my call, telling me that, “she was unable to see any details only that my car was ‘being repaired’”. I have not gotten updates nor was I given an update when I called. Even after all of that, and getting the approval for my vehicle’s repair, and being notified by the warranty company that the repair has been approved, my car is still waiting to be serviced. Although at first Justin Vanderpot was helpful, I ended having to call my warranty company myself and gather all the paperwork for my repair approval. After seven weeks, my 2017 Chevy Volt is still waiting to be serviced and repaired. I cannot recommend this dealership for service. ![]()
